I recently completed the Overland Track in Tasmania with the Access 60 UL pack & the Expedition 8 UL Hood. My ultralight Whippa setup made this challenging & technical hike absolutely doable. Firstly, I wanted this pack because it weighed more than 1kg lighter than the other women's specific pack I was going to take, and when your pack ends up between 18-20 kgs that makes a huge difference. I also wanted it because it's Aussie made & hey it looks great. Love the grey/tangerine orange combo I chose, I get lots of questions & positive comments on the pack. The padded back is super comfy & the access zipper is perfect. On this trek I used this zipper mainly to access my water bladder as all the stuff in my pack was within a liner. So easy to see if it needs refilling & to remove, much easier than the setup in other packs where you have to pull out the whole bladder. The materials seem very strong & durable, I just had to be a little careful with the back access zipper. The outside pockets are brilliant especially the large front waterproof stash pocket, I could fit heaps in there. The 8L hood was a useful add on for items I needed quick access to like rain gear or to pack a wet tent fly. The large stretchy side pockets are also great for stuff like drink bottles, hat, gloves. The side compression straps easily held my hiking poles when I wasn't using them. The hip belt with more pockets, shoulder straps, buckles, load lifters are all easily adjustable & practical. The main compartment easily fit our Mont Moondance Ex tent, clothes, sleeping bag, mat, shared food etc basically all the gear I needed to hike/camp for 6 days 5 nights. Overall, even though I've got crappy shoulders, I found this pack comfortable walking long distances with the weight I had to carry. It really is a terrific well thought out pack that really helps you organise your gear. I was so happy with this pack I've now ordered the 40L too!
