Solitary 35 Ultralight Climbing Pack

Solitary 35 Ultralight Climbing Pack

Description

The pack that began it all, the Whippa Solitary 35 was the first ultralight pack we designed when Rob Inshaw decided he wanted to climb the Matterhorn and he didn't have a suitable bag. Named after one of the most iconic features in the Blue Mountains where Whippa is based, the Solitary 35 is the perfect size for big days out in the mountains or ultralight overnight missions.

For Ultralight and Canyon Packs

Your torso length, not your back length, determines your pack size.

For 35-40L Packs:

Harness Size (Unisex)

Back Length

Small

Up to 43 cm

Medium

43-48 cm

Large

48 cm and above

For 45-90L Packs:

Harness Size (Unisex)

Back Length

Small

Up to 43 cm

Medium

43-51 cm

Large

51 cm and above

How to Measure Back Length:

  1. Locate the top of your hipbone (pelvic crest) on the side of your body. (Note: the pelvic crest slopes down at the front – but we are interested in the location of the highest point of your pelvis).

  2. Approximate the top of your hipbone in your lumbar region, on your spine. Wrap the tape measure horizontally from the top of your hipbone to the spine to confirm this position if required. Make a note of this location.

  3. Locate your C7 vertebrae. This is the highest bony protrusion on the back of your neck and is roughly in line with where your trapezius meets your neck. Make a note of this location.

  4. Measure the length between your C7 vertebrae and the location you found on your lumbar spine in step 2.

Nailed it

Love the pack. Used on various multi day walks, Solitary, Bungles and for guiding some scrambly rambles and climbing days.

With UL packing in mind the roll top closure could fit 5 days of food for UL walks, daisy chain allows for external attachments/pocket.

Great snug fit for climbing and have completed some dry canyons too.

Good price at the UL top end of the market and awesome to see it done locally. Looking forward to seeing this line of packs continued to be developed.

This is now my...

This is now my go to pack for multipitch climbing. The combination of super light weight, good carrying capacity, narrow profile, and high waist belt make it a pleasure to climb with. The easy rope carry system means I can fit all of my multipitch gear in the pack and still easily carry a rope over the top. Can't wait to get it out in the alpine.

Great Little Ultralight Pack

Excellent. This is a really well thought out and produced pack. It has the versatility to comfortably carry a heap of gear into a climb, but also be stripped back to a lighter pack which you could take on the climb. Its profile is such that it doesn't hinder your climbing. The nice big zip on the pocket and the clips that will work easily with or without gloves are good quality, the strapping is skinny where it can be, and thick where it needs to be.

Love the pack

Got the pack for a climbing trip through the french alps and for general use around the Blue Mountains. The pack is super comfortable and held up well on the sharp granite. Love the colours 😍
