This bag is absolutely the BEST!! As a scout I do lots of hiking which requires to pack light BUT find a light bag was insanely hard and on top of that none of them would fit me waist wise. Until a bit ago, I have been walking around with a bag that didnt fit, 50% water proof, and heavy, BUT now the Overland 60 is everything a hiker needs. It is ultra light (like crazy), waterproof even against snow and rain, and it FITS. Thank you so much Wippa for this masterpiece of a bag.
The Whippa Overland 60 has become one of the most important pieces of gear I own. Being retired early has given me the opportunity to spend more time exploring the outdoors, from overnight hikes and multi day adventures through to larger trekking goals around Australia and overseas. Having a backpack I can trust completely is essential, and the Overland 60 has exceeded my expectations in every way. What stands out most is the comfort. Even when fully loaded, it carries exceptionally well over long distances. The build quality is outstanding, the design is practical, and its clear the pack has been created by people who genuinely understand the needs of hikers. As the founder of the Southeast Queensland Hiking & Mountain Climbing Community, I regularly organise and lead overnight and multi day hiking adventures. Because of that, Im often asked for advice on gear, especially backpacks. Without hesitation, the Whippa Overland 60 is the pack I recommend most often. Over the years, Ive referred many hikers to Whippa after theyve seen my pack in action on the trail. Theres no better endorsement than real world experience, and its been fantastic to see so many people go on to purchase their own Whippa packs after seeing the quality, comfort, and performance for themselves. In fact, my confidence in Whippas products extends beyond the Overland 60. I also own the 40 litre model and a 90 litre Wollemi, choosing between them depending on the adventure ahead. Whether its a lightweight overnight trip, a multi day trek, or a larger expedition, I know I have a Whippa pack that will do the job. I suppose thats the strongest endorsement I can give. When it comes to backpacks, I keep coming back to Whippa. For me, the Overland 60 is more than just a backpack. Its been a trusted companion on countless kilometres of trail and has helped make some incredible adventures possible. From weekend overnighters to extended multi day treks, it has consistently delivered comfort, reliability, and durability when it matters most. I have no hesitation in recommending the Whippa Overland 60 to anyone looking for a high quality Australian made backpack that is built by hikers, for hikers. My girlfriend decided a week before her 3 month trip that a good backpack is too important and that she needed a good one. Whippa really helped to make that possible and to get out of their way to get the backpack to her destination as quick as possible. We first wanted to save that money, but boy are we happy that we invested in SUCH AN AMAZING HANDMADE BACKPACK. 3 months hike with all kind of weather trough New Zealand and the backpack was light, steady and strong.More than enough room and AMAZING customer service who showed my girlfriend via videocall how to pack the backpack the most efficient way and how to carry it. If you are thinking of buying one, do it! You won't regret it. Buy it once and but it good. Sincerely Very happy customer
Spending more than $500 was not an easy decision for me, especially since I have always prioritised bushwalking over stable employment. Now that it sits on my back I have no regrets. This piece of local innovation got me up Hannels Spur - 1800m elevation gain and longest continuous ascent on the Australian continent - in a day and was comfortable even when loaded with gear. The cost is quite reasonable when you consider it's made onshore and larger retailers are selling ~3kg packs for a similar price. The whole point of getting out there is to have fun, and this lightweight pack helps you do that by taking weight off your shoulders - so I recommend it without hesitation.
Absolutely blown away by this pack. Ive had sometime now to try it out & its been incredible. Light, comfortable, easy to pack, great side bottle pockets & durable. Im a small person who does anything from single to multiple days & this pack does it all. Rolls down small for short trips & cavernous room for longer ones. Thanks Summit for an incredible pack. Feels even better its made right here in Oz.

Have taken this pack on a few hiking trips now and super happy with it. I love supporting Aussie brands too. Its so bloody tough I feel for how light weight it is. Im about to embark on the larapinta trail and take 12 days worth of food with me. The pack weighs around 24kg and fits quite comfortably. Really good purchase. Thanks Whippa !!!
We were planning a Tassie trip and considering getting Hyperlite Packs to cut down on weight. I came across Whippas, liked the look of them, the fact they are made in Australia, and decided to give them a go.
We needed them fairly quickly and the staff at Whippa did a great job in getting them to us in time. We bought an Overland 60 ultralight + Expedition hood and a Wollemi 90 Ultralight Expedition Back, hip belt pockets and stuff sacks.
The walk was 11 nights/12 days. Up Higgs Track to Ironstone hut, cross country to the Walls of Jerusalem, down the past Lakes Adelaide and Meston to Junction Lake, up over the Traveller Range to join Overland Track at Du Cane Gap. Then into Pine Valley and out over the Minotaur, Mt Gould, and the Gould Plateau. We had a mix of weather and some reasonably heavy off-track scrub bashing traversing to the Gould Plateau.
OK, so how did the packs go? In a word, Brilliant. We had ~20 kg in the Wollemi and ~17kg in the Overland. We found the packs to be comfortable, well thought out, easy to adjust and use, waterproof, and able to cope with serious scrub. I reckon the Wollemi is the most comfortable pack I have owned.
The expedition hood on the Overland took required some trial and error in terms of adjustment to ensure it didn’t slip, especially when knocked about by scrub. The various buckles took a little getting used to, while very strong, they needed to be positioned carefully to clip into place. The stuff sacks with waterproof zips were very good, maybe the large one could have been a little larger. We liked the front pocket which are great for storage of waterproofs, maps etc. We liked the pockets on the hip belt which are great for snacks, although occasionally the scrub caught them and they came undone.

Packs honestly awesome!
After looking around for months at all different styles of dyneema ultralight packs from all the big brands I settled on this. Not only because I wanted to give an Aussie company a go, but also because I couldn't stand that most didn't have load lifters like this does.
I just spent a couple of days at Cradle Mountain in 60+km/h winds with sideways rain and this didn't miss a beat. I had a pack liner with dry bags but still didn't get a drop anywhere on the inside of the bag.
I've carried many packs over the years and this is honestly one of the most comfortable even with upto 18kgs in it. I'm sure it'll be similar with more jammed it and will test out one day soon.
I'm also a big organisation man so I got myself a few various coloured dyneema pouches to help with organisation in the front pouch (which also stayed dry the whole time).
Couldn't recommend it any more for a quality product that is designed and manufactured in Australia! Good luck finding anything remotely close to this that wasn't made in Asia. Price is also well and truly competitive to the big brands considering the home grown manufacturing. Worth more than its priced in my eyes.
This is my first ultralight pack and it was a heavily researched topic before I made the leap and purchased the Whippa Overland 60L. I couldn't be any happier with the decision!
It's comfortable, has plenty of space, and even though it's ultralight it doesn't lose the features. With two hip pockets for snacks, two side pockets for extra water (or more snacks) a front pocket for easy access items and a spacious internal cavity, this bag has PLENTY of room for everything I need when I'm hiking! Thanks Whippa!
When I first saw the Whippa packs in the Summit Gear store I knew that this was the game changer I had been waiting for. After years of lugging around heavy loads with packs that weigh almost 3 kg it was time for a transformation. I am now the proud owner of the 60 litre Overland which I miraculously won at the Whipps launch. Having just returned from my first overnighter I can honestly say this is the most exciting thing in light weight fast hiking. The pack had around 15 kg of weight in it but it almost felt like a day pack on my back. Beautifully balanced with no sore spots, no aches on my 59 year old shoulders and a fresh back after a full 6 hours. I have never felt so fresh after 2 big days.
Everything about the pack is thought through- a real life changer for any thru hiker. Well done guys - a truly remarkable piece of equipment.
I've used my Overland Ultralight 60 on a couple of missions now and absolutely love it. Safe to say it has exceeded my expectations in every aspect.
Obviously it's superlight but there has been no compromise on durability and comfort. Every aspect exudes quality, comfort and light weight.
I can vouch for the water proofing, the ease of the clips even with gloves on in cold conditions, the balance of the load through the hip belt and straps, and the versatility of the side mesh pockets.
This is a ripper pack and so great to be Australian designed and made.
Design and Appearance:
The Overland Ultralight Multi-Day Backpack boasts a streamlined design suitable for a variety of activities requiring a multi-day backpack. The refreshing Blue and Orange colour scheme adds a vibrant touch, deviating from the conventional greens, blacks, browns, and greys commonly found in backpacks. This aesthetic change sets it apart and adds a unique flair.
Build Quality:
Upon initial observation, the backpack may resemble an inside-out IKEA bag to the untrained eye, but closer inspection reveals a futuristic building process using high-quality materials. The backpack exhibits incredible strength and is surprisingly lightweight, a standout feature that truly impresses when held. The durability is commendable, with the pack accommodating a 20-25kg load without any signs of wear or tear. The stitching and waterproof seams held up exceptionally well, even under strenuous conditions in the jungle.
Comfort and Fit:
The plastic frame sheet ensures both durability and comfort, maintaining stability even with a 20-25kg load. Despite the delicate balance between ultralight design, durability, and comfort, the backpack proved surprisingly comfortable during challenging treks through steep and rugged jungle terrain. The chest strap and waist belt further enhance the overall comfort, making it an ideal choice for extended use.
The availability of different size options, with the myself opting for a Large size, ensures a customisable and comfortable fit for a range of users.
Storage Capacity:
With a generous 60L volume, the Overland backpack strikes a perfect balance for those seeking an ultralight experience without compromising on storage capacity. The reviewer successfully carried personal, safety, and medical kits for 24 people during a 7-night stay under the jungle canopy. The well-designed exterior pocket allows quick access to essential items, while side and hip pockets provide ample room for various necessities.
Functionality:
The Overland backpack proved to be highly functional in the harsh jungle environment, effortlessly handling challenges such as dirt, rain, and constant heat. A notable feature was the ability to stay relatively dry even during water-based activities, contrasting favourably with other backpacks in wet conditions. The efficient drying process in the humid jungle environment further highlighted the backpack's practicality.
Additional functional elements, such as the detachable emergency whistle on the shoulder strap, contribute to the overall utility of the backpack.
Overall Pros:
Striking design with vibrant colours.
Ample storage space and well-thought-out pockets.
Exceptional durability without sacrificing comfort.
Remarkably lightweight.
Effective water resistance and quick drying.
Inclusion of practical features, such as a detachable emergency whistle.
In conclusion, the Overland Ultralight Multi-Day Backpack excels in design, build quality, comfort, storage capacity, and functionality, making it a standout choice for those seeking a reliable and versatile backpack for challenging outdoor adventures.

Pack and hood took over 4 months to arrive. But extremely happy with it. It handled 20kg load really well and had plenty of room.
Bag is amazing, even better that its an Aussie brand so feels good to support locals
This is a great pack so light and comfortable!
I took it on a 70km 4 day hike first trip I did with it I was super impressed with the comfort and I was saving 1.5kg on my back as my last pack was over 2.5 kg !
It is water proof no pack liner needed .
Would recommend to anyone!
Got the Overland 60 plus the hood (haven't used the hood yet). Very impressed with the quality and design. Frothed using it climbing around rubbing against granit boulders and through some dence bush for a few days, no marks to be seen on it yet. The weather also turned letting the rain come down and the pack held up well during it keeping contents dry. Would be happy to purchase again. Keep it up legends
I used it on the Overland track in Tassie. Really happy with it.
