The Canyon EX 55 is the outcome of years of experience in manufacturing specialty outdoor packs for hiking, climbing and canyoning. We tasked ourselves with the goal of taking our legendary Canyon pack that has stood the test of time and is loved by professional guides, emergency services and recreational canyoners alike and make it lighter, stronger and better! With the Canyon EX we have achieved this goal!
The Canyon EX weighs in at just 1.2kgs including a full frame sheet.
The body of the Canyon EX 55 is made from EPLX400 a waterproof laminated fabric that is made from 100% recycled polyester and is 97% UV resistant and has high abrasion resistance. Due to the nature of the material, EPLX400 absorbs less water and is fast drying.
The base of the pack is made from Ultra 800X a UHMWPE fabric which is the most abrasion resistant material we can source (abrasion: ATSM 3884 16,000+ Cycles) and at just 288gsm is incredibly light. We have cored out the frame sheet and the closed cell foam strategically to reduce weight whilst still providing an extremely comfortable, load carrying pack.
Superior Performance:
We tasked ourselves with ensuring the pack has superior performance in all areas. With the Canyon EX 55 we have delivered. The pack is incredibly light and is fast draining. It has a stylish chevron drainage mesh pattern and 6 x SP4 eyelets on the base that dump water out as fast as you can stand up.
The Canyon Ex 55 has 3 clip in points and 2 internal gear loops for easy access to gear as well as accessory loops on the front that enable you to easily attach the Whippa Ultralight Helmet net.

Each Whippa Canyon EX 55 pack upcycles approximately 20 plastic water bottles and there are no fluorocarbons used in the material. All used fabric and offcuts are recycled locally to form part of the circular economy.

How to Measure Back Length:
-
Locate the top of your hipbone (pelvic crest) on the side of your body. (Note: the pelvic crest slopes down at the front – but we are interested in the location of the highest point of your pelvis).
-
Approximate the top of your hipbone in your lumbar region, on your spine. Wrap the tape measure horizontally from the top of your hipbone to the spine to confirm this position if required. Make a note of this location.
-
Locate your C7 vertebrae. This is the highest bony protrusion on the back of your neck and is roughly in line with where your trapezius meets your neck. Make a note of this location.
-
Measure the length between your C7 vertebrae and the location you found on your lumbar spine in step 2.
